History of Perak
Perak has at least three versions when it comes to its origin. One version states that the name "PERAK" could be referring to Bendahara Tun Perak of Malacca. The second version states that it came from the "glimmer of fish in the water" that sparkled like silver, which is Perak in Malay and the third version states that it refers to the silver minerals or tin which is also Perak in Malay found and mined from its earth.
Perak's history however precedes any state in Malaysia. It exists since the prehistoric age and went through numerous evolution and phases. The state had experienced the prehistoric era such as Paleolithic Age, the Hoabinhian era, the Neolithic Age, the Metal Age and the Hinduism/Buddhism Era.
The post historic era began after the arrival of Islam followed by the sultans era, the English occupation, the Japanese occupation and the independence. Perak now is a modern state that has a lot to offer to the visitors. However it still retain its uniqueness and rich history.
