Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge
Dubbed as Asia’s Best billfish competition, The Royal Pahang Billfish International Challenge is an annual off-shore fishing competition. It is organised by Tioman Development Authority, the Pahang office of Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia and the Malaysian Angling Association. The event is held at Lanjut, Kuala Rompin. It was first held in 2003.
The objective of this competition aims to showcase Kuala Rompin as the “Billfish Capital of Asia’’ where sailfish and marlins would spend much of their time cruising the seas off Kuala Rompin during their active migration season in the months of March through September each year. The Catch and Release method is compulsory. After the fish is captured, it is unhooked, photographed and returned to the sea.
