Puding diraja

Royal Pudding

Royal pudding or Puding Raja is a traditional Malay dessert that is originated from Pekan. The desert was once only served to the royal family but now has been commercialized and can be eaten by everyone. It is in actuality not a pudding but a simple dish of bananas coated with a sweet cream made from milk and cornflour.

The type of banana used is called “pisang lemak manis”, which is a sweet and small. To add to the sweet taste, other fruits like prunes, cherries, cashew nuts and sometimes dates, are also used. A special sweet noodle-like made from egg yolk called “jala emas” is also added on top of the bananas.
