Patin Tempoyak Stew

Patin tempoyak stew is a very popular Pahang dish especially in Temerloh district. Its main ingredients are the catfish called patin and the fermented durian flesh called tempoyak. Other ingredients include chilies, Vietnamese coriander leaf, onion, live turmeric, salt and sugar.

The combination of the sour taste from the durian and the fatty taste from the fish provide a unique experience for the first time eater. The price of this dish varies depending on the type of fish. Farmed patin fish is cheaper than wild patin fish which price can be inflated to a ridiculous amount due to its rarity. Always make sure to ask the type of the fish and the price beforehand before choosing to eat them.
