Ikan Bakar Portugis

Melaka Straits is named after Melaka. It is evident that fish would be included in Melaka delicacies. Ikan bakar Portugis is just like other type of Ikan bakar except that it is slathered with lemongrass, tamarind juice, shallots and dry chilies.

People usually used Pomfret fish to cook the ikan bakar. However, mackerel and stingray are often used as a replacement. The grilled fish is cooked together with okra and wrapped in the banana leaves to retain the flesh juicy moisture. Then it is grilled with charcoal until it is cooked.

Ikan bakar is often served with a plate of white rice and some salad .
