D.R Seenivasagam Recreational Park
D. R. Seenivasagam Park or formerly known as Coronation Park, is named after the famous politician and lawyer D.R Seenivasagam who was known as a man who gave back much to the Perak people. It is the green lung of Ipoh and is famous for its scenic beauty and recreational facilities.
It comprises of recreational fields that are used for football games and other training, an artificial lake filled with fish, a nursery for potted plants, a children’s playground, a cycling area where road signs and traffic lights are put up for a road experience and the landscaped Japanese mini garden featuring a Japanese carp pond. The garden is a mini version of the garden in Fukuoka, Japan which is the sister city of Ipoh.
The park is a peaceful place where you can spot family picnics, small get together and also couple retreats. The beautiful scenery leads many wedding photography session to take place here. There is even a skateboard playing area beside the Japanese garden.

D.R. Seenivasagam Park is the largest park in Ipoh City Centre and was built in 1960. This park used to be called Coronation Park before the name changed to D.R. Seenivagam Park to pay homage to a prominent lawyer who founded the Perak Progressive Party (PPP). This park is much revered and beloved by the city dwellers and the locals call it D.R. Park for short.

There are currently only 2 Ipoh trees in Ipoh. One is found here in this park and the other one is found in front of Ipoh Railway Station in old town. The latex of Ipoh tree is poisonous and is smeared on the arrowhead, darts and blow darts for hunting and warfare.
