Chee Cheong Fun
Chee Cheong Fun or steamed rice roll is a popular breakfast dish among the Chinese community in Perak. It was brought to Perak during 19th century by Chinese immigrants from Guangdong.
The steamed rice rolls is made of rice flour, corn starch, water, and a bit of cooking oil and salt. Original Chee Cheong Fun is garnished with fried shallots and sesame seeds and served with soy sauce. However as time goes, so as the variety of the sauce.
The Perak locals usually enjoy the sweet bean paste sauce, but other variations include a curry sauce and dried shrimp sambal and mushroom gravy are also available. Other ingredients like fish cakes and fish balls were added to give more variation to the taste.
