Johor Bon Odori Festival

Bon Odori festival a traditional Japanese festivals, where the dead and the living connect with each other. It is also celebrated all over Malaysia including Johor as an effort to expose Japanese culture towards the Malaysian.

Johor Bon Odori is celebrated by performing the traditional dance and drum performances to welcome the homecoming of ancestral spirits. The Japanese Buddhist believes that the spirit of ancestors will return once a year to visit the families.

Besides the drums and the dance performances, there are activities such as martial arts, cheer leading competition, talent shows, and funny displays for the visitors to enjoy. There are also firework displays going on.

Where To Go?

The event takes place yearly at Eco Botanic Convention Center, Nusajaya, Johor Bahru.

Time

The festival in Johor is held for two days around the month of July. It starts from 6.00 p.m to 10.30 p.m

Admission

There is no entrance fee for the festival
