Soto Ayam

Soto is originally traditional Indonesian soup. Due to many Javanese community in Johor. Soto has become one of Johor traditional food. The soup mainly consists of the broth, the meat, and the vegetables.

Soto ayam is very much like a chicken soup except it is served with either the noodle or the pressed rice. The chicken is slowly boiled with onion and spices like turmeric, galangal, ginger, coriander, salt, candlenut, and pepper to produce the broth. Then, it will be taken out from the broth so the flesh can be shredded and used for the garnishing later. The herbs like cilantro and spring onions are also used as the garnish. Some people also add the beansprout and fried shallots into the dish.

Soto sometimes is accompanied with mixture of cut chilies and sweet soy sauce dipping for those who want the extra kick.
