Lontong
Lontong is a compressed rice cake dish. The lontong’s texture is similar to ketupat. The only difference is that ketupat is wrapped with weaved young coconut leaf, while lontong is wrapped in banana leaves.
Lontong is usually served at room temperature with peanut sauce-based dishes such as pecal or satay. In Johor, it is eaten as an accompaniment to coconut milk-based soups called sayur lodeh. Sayur lodeh consists of shrimps, cabbages, turnips, carrots, tempeh and tofu. The lodeh can be accompanied with sambal and fried chicken, hard boiled eggs and crackers.
