Roti Kirai
Roti Kirai or also known as Roti Jala is a popular Johorean tea time snack. It is a pretty dish that looks like a rolled yellow lace due to the way it is made. The term ‘kirai’ refers to the circular motion of the hand when pouring the ingredient from the container through the tiny holes.
The ingredients consist of flour, eggs, milk and a pinch of turmeric. These ingredients then are combined with water to form a runny batter. The batter then drizzled onto a hot pan in a circular motion to form a net like effect.
Roti Kirai is usually eaten in sets of three to four pieces and dipped with either chicken or beef curries.
