Air Itam Dam
The Air Hitam Dam is the first dam built in Penang island. It is one of the most famous jogging and cycling spots for the Penangites. The cool temperature enable the outdoor activities.
The dam is located in Air Itam town, hence the name and is sandwiched between the Penang Hill and Paya Terubong. On the left side of the dam is Air Itam reservoir. The grassy slope and its unspoiled nature is a feast for the eyes. The right sight, on the other hands offers the view of Georgetown. The forest area surrounding the dam is owned by the water supply company. Although the visitors can enter the place during the day, entrance is forbidden at night.
Besides the beautiful scenery, the visitors can spot colorful flowers and enjoy the sound of the chirping birds. If they are lucky, the can also spot some “wild” animals like iguana, tortoise and otter. There is also a small waterfall in the forest area.”.

Hear From Others
Looking into the sun, and with a hazy atmosphere – but you can make out George Town in the background. It could make a good photo at the right time of day.
ANOTHER ACTIVITY TO LOSE CALORIES IN PENANG is to walk up and downhill. Penang has a number of interesting parks and hills for one to keep fit and healthy. Among them, I specifically like to go uphill at the Air Itam Dam, just next to the Kek Lok Si Temple.
The views over Georgetown are fantastic and such a contrast from after coming from the city and then viewing it from a natural environment.
A good place to unwind, Gurney Drive has it all – amazing beach view, great food and a mix of modern as well as traditional aesthetics.
Kek Lok Si Temple
It is famously known as the Temple of Supreme Bliss, claimed to be the largest in Southeast Asia and possesses great interiors. The best time to explore it is during the Spring Festival.
Known as “Bukit Bendera”, Penang Hill offers many interesting activities and picturesque view to be relished by visitors.
