P Ramlee Memorial House

The P Ramlee Memorial Library is a museum established to commemorate the life and the achievements of P Ramlee as the most famous and best-loved artist in Malaysia. Tan Sri P. Ramlee was a multifaceted artist whose talents include singing, composing, acting and directing. He also could play lots of musical instrument like a saxophone,a piano and a guitar.

The building of the memorial was originally his place of living before he succumbed to his death at the age of 44 in 1973 due to a heart attack. It is located in Setapak.

The memorial is open for public in 1986. It is managed by the National Archive of Malaysia. It displays his memorabilia such as his awards, musical instruments, documents and personal artefacts as well as a variety of the scenes from the films he directed.

Most part of the house is preserved the way it is. However, the mini theater is renovated and replaced to make extra space for the exhibition gallery.

Placed at the front of the museum is P Ramlee’s last car, a Datsun with a licence plate number BAD 3608. There is also a bicycle trishaw beside it. the trishaw was featured in the first film directed by P Ramlee.

The memorial is accessible by public transportation. The nearest bus stop is KL1597 Genting Kelang Selatan. The bus line is 252.
