Jadi Batek Gallery

Jadi Batek Gallery is one of the largest batik gallery in Kuala Lumpur. It is easily accessible due to its location at the heart of Kuala Lumpur. It was established in 1976 by husband and wife team, Yong Jo and Thong Lai Ying. It is a popular KL tourist shopping attraction.

The visitors not only have the opportunity to view batik artworks in the gallery, they can also learn about the batik making process and participate in a workshop to make their own batik masterpiece too.

The Gallery sells great souvenirs and batik artworks such as dresses, blouses, scarves, pareos, kaftans, men’s shirts, children’s clothing, tablecloths, coasters and many more.

Jadi Batek has a small team of talented batik artists that are responsible in producing the batik artworks and teaching the workshop. This gallery helps to protect Malaysia’s heritage and at the same time provide opportunities for these artisans to earn a living from this age old handicraft.

Jadi Batek Gallery is accessible by public transportation. There are two stations nearby the areas. The first one is Air-Asia-Bukit Bintang Monorail Station and the other one is the KL84, Pavilion Timur Purple Bus Station.

It has a spacious 30,000 sq. ft. gallery. Though we didn’t buy any of their impressive array of batik and handicrafts merchandise, we did observe, up close, the batik making process.

I have so much fun during my last weekend, I spend about 2 hours 30 minute at Jadi Batek Galley which I learn the complete process from a empty piece of cotton, wax and putting on the color, to make the art look beautiful. I am very satisfy for my Batik Masterpieces.
